Florence residents seek legal recourse over proposed casino


Salem, OR – People Against a Casino Town will file a lawsuit today asking the Oregon Supreme Court to declare the state’s compact with the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians a violation of the Oregon constitution.  Former Governor John Kitzhaber signed the compact allowing a proposed Florence area gambling casino during the closing minutes of his administration.  PACT leaders and the organization’s legal counsel will be available today for media inquiries regarding the law suit.
